A musical journey where north meets east in rhythm, color, and motion.
Swedish guitarist and lavta player Elian Hägglund teams up with Estonian violinist Juuli Kõrre in a duo that sparks with energy, emotion, and interplay. Drawing from Swedish and Estonian folk traditions and reaching openly toward the sounds of the east, they create a vibrant and ever-shifting musical landscape.
With roots in tradition, their music moves effortlessly between driving dance tunes, sparse beauty and expressive improvisations, creating a sound that is both grounded and full of movement.
This is music that invites you in. Sometimes to listen closely, sometimes to move. and sometimes to drift away in thought.
A traditional Armenian dance song (parerg), Nubar Nubar is a celebration of love and youth. The title comes from the Armenian name Nubar meaning "first harvest" or "first blossom". Used as a sweet term of endearment for a beloved, whether a young man or woman.
Originating from Western Armenian and Anatolian folk traditions, the song features celebratory praise poetry that compares the beloved to a tall plane tree (chinar) and almond eyes to a crescent moon. Its steady, swaying rhythm and call-and-response refrain made it a staple of participatory village line dances and wedding festivities across the region.
